Artist Spotlight: Digital Departure

Digital Departure

In a musical genre that has been overwhelmed by the same monotonous build ups, bass drops, and DJ’s who do little more during their sets than press play, Digital Departure (Philip Bodner, Matthew Domas, and Adam Suhweil) has made it their mission to develop a truly unique sound that all music lovers can groove to and to deliver performances that will give their audience a musical experience unlike any other. Drawing influences from Trance, Progressive House, and Electro House, Digital Departure has made every effort to create a sound of their own through the integration of music and technology. They have dubbed this new sound “Electrotrance” and they are quite excited to share it with the rest of world.

The guys of Digital Departure have always loved making music and began playing instruments at a young age. Hailing from the Northern Chicago land area, founding members Philip Bodner and Mattew Domas started the group in 2009 after a series of various other musical excursions. After working on the project with a few other musicians who came and left, the duo brought Adam Suhweil on board in 2012 to complete the dynamic trio that graces our ears today. Their extensive experience, knowledge, and passion for music have fueled their journey into the magnificent world of EDM.

Since the formation of the group, Digital Departure has played at multiple EDM venues in Chicago including Vision Nightclub (now known as “Castle”), The Mid, V Live, Spybar, The Congress Theater, North Coast MusicFestival, and Spring Awakening Music Festival. They have proved themselves a force to be reckoned with as their music has attracted fans both close to home and internationally.  In January 2013 they caught the ears of not one but TWO record labels in Spain, Rampa Records and Beating Records.  They've even managed to grab the attention of  various design teams who want to help them develop their image and spread their musical vibes to the masses.
Through their sound they hope to take you to places you've never been before. So throw your hands in the air, free your mind, and dance like this is the last chance you’ll ever get because you are about to depart on a digital journey from which you may never want to return!  You can follow them on Facebook, SoundCloud, Beatport,  iTunesYoutube, and Twitter.

You can check them out Friday at 730pm at Spring Awakening Music Festival at Da Colonnades Stage 4!!
